Water powered flashlight

My guess is that there is simply some substance that breaks down in the presence of liquid, releasing the energy. The liquid becomes saturated, so new liquid 'recharges' the battery, although at some point the substance just runs out.

Carbide Lamp, gives off Acytlyne (sp) Gas, used to be used by coal miners. Open flame type.
Used in Davy Lamps. VERY DANGEROUS |
